Ghazal: Shubham Arya

It is a nice ghazal poem though i didn't understood some urdu and hindi words. But while reading it took some time to understand it.
ReplyDelete"surate sab........waqt gair hota hai"; this couplet can take someone from the physical, materialistic aspects of "being" to the intangible yet core of life- the time.
ReplyDeleteMasha-Allah Preeti!
DeleteThis is the lense to write/read/hear/analyse/approach a Ghazal.
Thank you very much!--
तुम मेरे पास होते हो गोया_ (as if speaking, eloquent)

ReplyDeleteफिर भी कैसे ब-ख़ैर होता है- I really liked these lines Shubham. The contrasting elements bring very beautiful imagery.
सब लिखा साफ़ ख़ैर होता है- the depth of understanding is very well put out.
I would like to suggest that you make clear the following statements-
Else, it is beautifully written!
Hello Bhargavi!
DeleteThank you so much for your comments, appreciations and suggestions.
Allow me to say a few things on this couplet: first of all, 'sher' works pretty much works with this very ambiguity which you rightly pointed out, it's not clearly put, hence opening it up for co-existing interpretations. If you've stumbled upon this one, then I've succeeded.
Secondly, if you'd read this couplet in the light of the Matla and the entire Ghazal, then you'll realize that this kind of a couplet was meant to be for this Ghazal. Read the very first line, for instance along with different punctuations, such as '!', '?', '.' etc, and the second line too like that: now think as to which faculty do you think is raising such questions or observing these things, 'दिल', or 'दिमाग़'. Read the following couplet by Mirza Ghalib--
Now, there're two ways to interpret: one is to assume that these things are literal, or on the other hand they're symbols or metaphors, the idea of poetic licence is at work here.
Finally, a 'sher' is supposed to have in it various complexity, the more one's able to do that, the more 'अच्छा शेर' it's considered.
I hope you'll find multiple readings of the sher, but of course, I appreciate your suggestion, a critical engagement indeed! Thank you so much!
Cheers!
