Shubham City Poem: A Ghazal

दानिश अलीगढ़ी की ग़ज़ल के चंद अशअआर देखिए--
तुझ से मिलने की सज़ा देंगे तेरे शहर के लोग
ये वफ़ाओं का सिला देंगे तेरे शहर के लोग
क्या ख़बर थी तेरे मिलने पे क़यामत होगी
मुझ को दीवाना बना देंगे तेरे शहर के लोग
तेरी नज़रों से गिराने के लिए जान-ए-हयात
मुझ को मुजरिम भी बना देंगे तेरे शहर के लोग
कह के दीवाना मुझे मार रहे हैं पत्थर
और क्या इस के सिवा देंगे तेरे शहर के लोग

सज़ा= punishment
वफ़ा= fulfilling a promise, fulfillment, fidelity, faithful
सिला= present, gift, reward
ख़बर= news, information, report, notice
क़यामत= apocalypse, resurrection, the last day
दीवाना= mad, lunatic, lover
नज़र= look, glance, vision, favour
जान= Knowing/knowledge/apprehension/opinion, acquaintance/familiar friend, life, sweetheart; हयात= life; जान-ए-हयात= life of life
मुजरिम= criminal, sinner, culprit, offender
सिवा= except, but, over and above



इसी ज़मीन पर मेरी कही हुई ग़ज़ल देखिए--
मुझ को लगता है बना देंगे तेरे शहर के लोग
होगा कुछ और दिखा देंगे तेरे शहर के लोग
सुनता हूं शहर तो गांव से बड़े होते हैं
एक कमरा तो दिला देंगे तेरे शहर के लोग
उस से अव्वलतो सिलाएंगे मुलायम बिस्तर
बाद भट्टी पे सुला देंगे तेरे शहर के लोग
चाँद-तारों से फ़क़ीरों को हुआ क्या हासिल
क्या ख़ुदा का भी पता देंगे तेरे शहर के लोग
चाह गर हो तो कोई राह निकल आती है
आज तो सीन बना देंगे तेरे शहर के लोग
हम ने तामीर किया शहर-ए-तसव्वुर इन का
क्या हमें मार भगा देंगे तेरे शहर के लोग
बैठ एसी में मुख़ालिफ़ का बुरा हाल करें
गोया सरहद पे मिटा देंगे तेरे शहर के लोग
हम ने दुनिया को 'शुभम्' मान लिया गांव मगर
देख कर मुँह ही बना देंगे तेरे शहर के लोग

अव्वल= first, foremost
सिलना= to stich
बाद= later, after, next, then
भट्टी= place where spirituous liquor are manufactured and sold, boiler, fireplace, furnace, oven, distillery
फ़क़ीर= mendicant, dervish, one who leads holy life
हासिल= gain, product, result, profit
पता= address, trace
तामीर= to build/construct/design
शहर= city; तसव्वुर= imagination, contemplation, reflection, conception; शहर-ए-तसव्वुर= idea of the city, city plan
मुख़ालिफ़= opponent/enemy/foe/opposition/antagonist
गोया= as if speaking, eloquent

    Hi, Shubham! This is such a tremendous poem about the city, how you have created each and every image of the daily lives and things that are used in day to day, in the particular lines of the poems. I really loved it. How the city becomes the other one with whom you are talking and sharing your experiences and emotion throughout your l8fe and heart. It is really a beautiful poem. Thank you!!!

; क़ैदी हैं हम इन दीवारों के अरसों तक बंद रहा करते हैं कुछ बंद हुए हैं दरवाज़ों से खिड़की से झांका करते हैं। इन दीवारों में दरारें हैं जो रोज़ गवाही देती हैं हम क़ैदियों की चीख़ों को ख़ामोश होते सुनती हैं। ग़र ना कसे हों बेड़ियों में पत्थर को काटा करते हैं जो लेश बने सांसों में चुभ कर तन धराशाई करते रहते हैं । इन टूटती दीवारों के गुनहगार तो हम ही हैं मलबे तले कारागार दफ़न है खंडहर भी यूं तो हम ही हैं ।
