मेरी पहली नज़्म (in response to Aga Shahid Ali's K.L. Saigal)

नज़्म--के।एल। सहगल

वो इक फ़नकार जिस की इक सदी पर हुक्मरानी थी

वो जिस के दम से ज़िंदा साँस लेती  हर कहानी थी

वो हर कविता या हर नग़्मा जो उस के मन समाया

रुबाई हो, ग़ज़ल हो, गीत उस ने गुनगुनाया

कअई तो नज़्में थीं जो उस के होठों से निकल फूटीं

कअई रंगीं सक़ाफ़त याफ़ता रसिकों तलक पहुँचीं

सदा गूंजी खुले भण्डार इक साझा विरासत के

वतन हिंदोस्ताँ मुश्तरका तहज़ीबी इज़ाफ़त के

ये मुश्किल वक़्त है जब खो चुकी है अपनी यक-जेहती

कि डोरे लाल हैं काली फ़ज़ाख़ाली है ये बस्ती

नहीं अब मौसिक़ी सच्ची जो है मारकेट बनाता है

सभी हैं वक़्त के पाबंद ट्रैफ़िक दनदनाता है

मैं अपने वक़्त का अक्कास हूं अब तीसरी पीढ़ी

अगरचे मौत है चारों तरफ़ तो ज़िंदगी मैं भी

यक़ीं मज़बूत: होंगी सारी ना-हमवारियाँ समतल--

'शुभम्' इस जावेदाँ उम्मीद का ही नाम है सहगल

मुश्किल= difficult, tough, difficulty

वक़्त= time, occasion, opportunity, season
