जो हो रहा है यहाँ तुम्हें कुछ ख़बर भी है क्या

दिखाई सब कुछ तो दे रहा है नज़र भी है क्या

वो शख़्स कितना बड़ा मकाँ है क़याम जिस का

बता रहे हो मुझे वही दर-ब-दर भी है क्या

ज़मीं पे बिखरी समंदरों की है रेत इस में

छुपा हुआ इक नया-नया सा बहर भी है क्या

ख़मोश रहते हो इस क़दर क्यूं तवील चुप्पी

मिज़ाज अच्छे नहीं अमल में गदर भी है क्या

क्यूँ मेरी सासों में बू अजब सी ये घुल रही है

पता नहीं क्यूं फ़ज़ा है नीली ख़तर भी है क्या

ये उतरे चेहरे ये नौहा-ख़वानी ये भीगी पलकें

चमन से काटा गया सदा-ए-शजर भी है क्या

है मैं ने जब-जब उन्हें पुकारा मुहब्बतों से

जवाब आता रहा हमेशा समर भी है क्या

ये माना क़ैद-ए-हयात और बंद-ए-ग़म हैं यकसाँ

फ़ज़ा/फ़िज़ा= ambience

ख़तर= danger

नौहा= lamentation, mourning; ख़्वाँ= reciter, desirous; नौहा-ख़्वानी= mourning, lamenting, dirge-lamenting

चमन= flower garden, flourishing place

सदा=ring/ always, ever, perpetual, ring/ call/ shout; शजर= tree; सदा-ए-शजर= voice of the tree

समर= fruit, produce, profit, result

कैद= deceit, fraud, treachery, malice; क़ैद= imprisonment, confinement, restraint, bondage; हयात= life, existence; क़ैद-ए-हयात= prison of life

बंदा= man, beloved; बंद= joint, closed, knot, dyke or dam; ग़म= grief/ sorrow; बंद-ए-ग़म= bondage of grief

यकसाँ= same

रिहा= released, liberated, freed; रिहाई= liberation, escape, deliverance, relief

क़ज़ा= death/ fate/ lapse

सूरत= shape, face, manner

मगर= however/ but, crocodile
