Political Poem: Jasmine

Running Woman

Running woman,
you run past me
but I want to hold on
to your vision
for a moment longer

I notice your back
your sports bra
is digging
into your skin

Run,
running woman
run till you free
yourself
from the gaze
that smirks at you

Your running
is not a performance
for them

It's a revolution

Let your stride
carry you over to a place
where jiggling flesh
is beautiful

Run past,
Fast
so they don't register
who you are

Transcend,
so they don't realize
what brought
the change
in the atmosphere

You have slit
the air
And made a place
for yourself

Run till you can just slip by
No effort
only release, only release

Run, running woman
run and tomorrow
I'll join you

Breathless
our b
eads of sweat
will be all the glow we need.
