Respond poem 4- Spring by Dhiman Das
(Based on the title of the poem 'First Day of Spring')
Spring
As I intend to write about Spring
I at first think it as a season of meeting
Meeting of people with no boundaries.
Shahid, I must tell you it is such a beautiful feeling
A fresh feeling of love, bond and making new relations.
In this part of the nation
You shall hear the beats of Dhol
beating "Khitkiti Dhin Dao Dhin Dao Dhin".
Marking the beginning of Spring
At the call of the Cuckoo
With colourful "Kopou" (Orchid) blooming
The trip of a Bordoisila
And humming the folk tunes all together.
Come and see how everyone indulges in its beauty
Dancing round and round under the "Nahar" tree
And teasing the playfulness of youth
There is a anticipation of new hope all around.
Seeking blessings from one and all together
It is a new year with new beginning.
With images of dhulia riding a buffalo,
playing pepa to the swaying nasoni conjures
up the picture of Rongali.
Resurrecting nature
What if you also find
your lost love somewhere here?
Tying a knot culturally
With a Gamosa
People adorn themselves with it.
All the way from far North to the East
Bohag would make your heart fluttered.
And enjoy the happiness with utter delicacy
Because its the month of Spring
And you and I,
Let's groove in to the Rongali (Rangali- Path or a way with colours)
And take back some lovely longings.
