Response Poem 1 by Megha

What is Dead may never Die,  Response Poem on Cremation.

I remember falling off A cliff,
I remember swinging with time.
It felt like A twitch,
In a moment bodies around were thick with grime.

My ears heard a thud,
My body so heavy to drown.
I sensed a river with no water but light,
Far away, I saw person gazing with that frown.

My folks carried my body,
So high above I looked.
Saddened faces, burnt lullabies,
Hole so deep, mud away it took.

Others had a different ending,
Through ferocious ending, some rained with flames.
Eyes wet looked above,
Demented with this unruly death game.

We heard stories of people above,
We heard that they never cry,
So I told this man of death,
What is dead may never die.
