The Fate of the Astrologer
Sitting on the Pavement Outside
the Delhi Railway Station
"Pay, pay attention to the sky,"
he shouts to passers-by.
The planets gather dust
from passing trucks.
I lean in to look a little more closely,
but it is too dark to see what's for, what's against me.
I grasp every beam that I see,
some by the short end, few coil around me.
They snap, always
and I, almost
levitate
