Response poem 4 : Manya
A response to Agha Shahid Ali's : I see Kashmir from New Delhi at Midnight
दी-War
दी-War
Painted it white,
and called for peace.
Doors for enlisted-men,
a window to breathe.
Peepholes in order
to spot a figurine.
Arms closer
than their children could ever be.
The barrels replaced
their eyes so quickly,
Shooting through the barracks
were ruin and misery.
With flaming streaks
and shrieks of the dead,
They turned the wall
from ivory to red.
